Connecting Shapes with Connectors from Stencils

Shapes can also be connected using the Connector shape from the stencil pane.

Shapes can also be connected using the Connector shape from the stencil pane. To use this method select a stencil that has the Connector shape that you wish to use. Click the Connector shape and drag onto the drawing page. When the mouse is over a shape that has connection points, Visio will highlight the connection point of the shape where either the starting end point or the ending end point of the connector will be placed depending on the proximity of the corresponding end point of the connector to the shape's connection point. You will be able to connect one of the connection points of the connector this way.

Once the first connection is thus established, release the mouse button to fix that end of the connector. Now select the other end point of the connector and place it on the second connection point.

Tip: Once a dynamic connector is placed on the drawing page, its path can be modified using the green "handles" along the connector.
