So Far So Good
The section is entitled such because it is a principle that applies to your way of seeing things. Saying "So far, so good" entails your positive attitude that you will reach your goals no matter what.
Many people will start off very well. They have established a primary set of goals that are easily accomplished and work on each one individually and many of them collectively as well. Along the way they begin accumulating as it were, a long string of successes upon which to build up. Things seem to be going in their favor, their confidence builds exponentially as they succeed at things they hitherto thought highly unlikely, if not altogether impossible.
While it is tragic in a sense, there is an old story about a man falling from a very tall building. As he passed each floor, people heard him in no uncertain terms screaming “So far, so good!” Unfortunately, it can be pretty well assured that unless he had all of the necessary equipment properly in place to inhibit his fall and he was actually able to hit his mark (He was a stuntman, what did you think he was?) than everything would end up for the worse, no matter how many times he had succeeded in the past and no matter how well he had planned for this particular success.
However, given the vast height from which he was falling, wind conditions, terminal velocity, the air pressure of the inflated airbag designed to inhibit the fall without causing serious injury; there really were a great number of factors that could have prevented him not only from succeeding, but ended in great personal tragedy for him. His very life depended on being able to factor each and every variable into his equation and learn exactly what he had to do in order to succeed.
In this case, failure was definitely not an option, at least not one that he wished to allow into the equation that he was figuring for his success. However, missing any one little goal, one little detail or one minor success would have cost him everything in the most literal sense.
As long as “so far so good” is the way you are seeing things, you may be on track even if things do not always look their best from your personal perspective at the moment. If you are on the road to your destination, do not lose sight of where you have been or where you are going but make sure to keep your attention and your focus on the road in front of you.
