Prepare for Set Backs
Failure is as much a part of the journey to success as the end results, and in this section, you will learn how to accept that fact and know how to deal with its impact.
Life happens! Life should be the number one cause for celebration that anybody ever has. Life is also full of bitter disappointments, sadness, and tragedy and yes, inexplicably, life even forces everyone to experience failure.
At some point in their lives, anyone who has ever attempted anything will at some time or another, experience the horrors of a failure. It may be something as inconsequential as never learning how to cook eggs properly. It may be something so drastic that it has life-changing consequences and reaches out in a wider arc and impacts more people than the instigator could ever imagine, even after the fact. Failure is a part of life.
There are an ever-increasing number of people in the world who are trying to tell people that there is no such thing as failure. Nobody is better than anybody else and everything will be okay as long as someone is there to hold your hand and tell you everything will be okay. Does that even begin to make any sense to anybody with any drive or desire to succeed?
Guess what! If you are every going to try anything at all, you are going to fail to achieve what you set out to do sometimes. That is called a failure. Let it be perfectly clear that there is failure in the world. What many people fail to realize is that experiencing a failure does not make that person a failure. As long as a person can recognize a failure, keep it in mind that it happened, analyze the situation and figure out what they did that was wrong and where exactly that they went wrong, they can use that failure to their advantage.
That makes the overall impact of the failure a success right? No! A failure is a failure, no matter how you may dress it up and look at it. Learning from the experience of failing is a success in and of itself. It is completely an aside from the failure. It makes you human yes, and that really is not as bad a thing as some people would make it out to be. It means that you are capable of accepting your failures, facing them and using them to your benefit instead of hiding behind some white-washed ideology that makes people think the entire world is nothing more than a beautiful utopia and a paradise.
The world is ripe with failure. It is a fact of life and something that everybody is going to have to face at some point in their life. How people deal with their failures will not only play an important role in their lives but also in how successful they become. It is first important to recognize the fact that anybody who has ever tried anything has at some time or another, failed at something.
