List

The second step is to make an actual list of your personal goals, to put things into perspective. How to bend with the times and being flexible with your goals is also taught in this section.

Make an actual physical list of all of your goals. Put them in an order whereby the goals that have to be met before other goals can be reached are always first in your list as well. Putting the cart ahead of the horse may make you a non-conformist and make you truly become your own individual with your own way of doing things, but when you are forced to push both the cart and the horse by yourself, you will begin to see that in some things there is a reason for the logical progression that successful people follow.

Once you have your list, make time to review it as often as possible. Do not limit yourself to far-flung goals which are still in the realm of dreams, but include all of the smaller goals that are needed to actually get to those bigger dreams, goals and then ultimately, realities.

Do not be so quick to discard dreams that can realistically turned into goals once your immediate success comes to fruition. Many people will allow doubt and fear to rule their lives. If you are not willing to push the envelope and think outside the box than while you may become successful in every sense of the word, you will never be able to reach your full potential.

The reason for such a constant examination of this list will become obvious over the course of time. Life involves change. You will change as the world around you changes. Your dreams, your ideas, your limitations, your skills and abilities; all of this will continually change as well. As you change, so do your goals.

If you are not willing to change with the times, you may find that you get something you wanted twenty years ago about forty years too late for it to do you any good. Do not limit yourself in any fashion whatsoever. Be flexible and always be prepared to deal with change. Change brings about as many opportunities for success as it does for failure. Which path you choose will depend solely on you and the decisions that you make.
