Keep Moving

The values taught in this section of chapter 4 include: having the ability to recognize and figure out the most pressing problems, how to work your way around the challenges that you are facing, and keeping your set of goals realistic.

Remember that once you begin making forward progress, you never want to slam on the brakes and try and stop everything in mid-cycle. The end results will always be more harmful than they are beneficial. Slow up a little bit when you hit an obstacle and analyze the obstacle that is in your way. Do not waste that particular moment concentrating on a success that still lies far ahead but figure out how to get past the road block first.

When you have made it past whatever is in your way, before you get back up to speed: that is the time to check out your destination success again. Make sure that there are no other obstacles or at least if there is anything else in the way, figure out what it is going to be and how to work around it before you get to it.

It is not really expected that anyone will ever be able to see the entire gamut of problems that they will face in any given situation but it is relatively easy to be prepared for most of them if you have planned out your goals well enough. Keep the final success in mind at all times but be mindful to concentrate on what you are doing at the present time as well.

Just like any journey, you have to remember what your destination is, where it is and how to get there. All of these factors are important if you ever want to get where you need to be. Still, you will have to pay attention to the road if you are the one behind the wheel. Knowing where you are going and how to get there will not help you any at all if you keep slamming into every obstacle that you pass along the way getting there. More likely than not, you will never actually get where you are going if you run into even a small portion of the obstacles along the way.

Make no mistake about it, you are the only one who will ever be the final judge in your success or failure. You are the only one who is capable of taking control of your life and making it or breaking it. If you have any doubts in your mind at all and you still want to blame others when you hit something, try this little experiment.

Select five people at random on the street and ask them if they would be willing to work for your success. Ask them if your success really matters in the every day affairs of their lives. Now try the same little trick with five friends. Even among friends, while they may have more sympathy, empathy and even compassion for your goals, they really do not ultimately have any say or any real major concern about whether you are a success or a failure in your own eyes.

Keep your success in mind and keep on working towards that goal. Never let others stop you and make sure that you never slam on your own brakes. Keep your goals realistic and obtainable and over the course of time, they may become a little more difficult and take a little longer to get to but it will all be worth it in the end.
