Do I make a right turn, a wrong turn or a left turn?

In the journey to success, there comes a point where there are two or more options that you need to choose from. In this section, you wil learn how to come up with the best decision by weighing your options, going with the flow while still keeping sight of your personal goals.

As people get farther from familiar avenues and things that they know, they tend to become unsure of themselves. This is nothing wrong with this; this is not some disease or even anything to be ashamed of. It is simply a matter of fact and something that has to be dealt with. If it is not dealt with immediately and effectively however, the consequences can be devastating.

Even when someone is taking the well-traveled road, a minor detour from the established route can sometimes cause something right on the verge of a panic attack. This is not any different in people’s personal lives and dreams, goals and desires than it is on the road. That one minor adjustment will throw everything off course if it is not handled immediately.

Ultimately, like any roadblock or obstacle, it must be looked at in perspective. Usually, the only real difficulty is that it will change the timeline around a little bit. There will not be any major upsets other than that. So if it really is something so minor, why do so many people get upset about it or have problems with it?

The established goals that will become our success ultimately are going to be bigger and better than anything personally experienced before. At least this is the case for people who want to be truly successful and are willing to put forth the effort. However, quite frequently, as they obtain more and more of their goals and their lives improve notably around them, they are still in a new and different lifestyle than the one to which they are accustomed.

Like the imaginary journey into unknown realms, this puts people automatically on the defensive in many instances where they would not otherwise be so hesitant or concerned about such minor details. While they may not even care that someone has scratched their old junk car in the past, they may not initially know how to react when someone scratches the brand new vehicle they just bought for cash.

While the situations really are basically the same in almost every aspect, the actual level of involvement is different and there are new and not always well understood emotions and feelings for people in their new, more successful worlds. Like a new city, it will take many people time to adjust. Adjusting is something that must be done however.

The world around you will not wait for anyone to adjust to their environment for any reason. Nobody cares if it is a new and improved you or a new and unique situation that you are facing. Your successes and failures most often have little or even no effect on their lives and they do not really know or care about you or your situation. If you wish to remain successful, it is important to be able to be flexible.

It does not matter if there is one single detour or ten things that change everything all at once, every one of which affects both you and your goals. If you are going to be continually successful and not just another person who got lucky, it is wise to remember that the world changes around you and you have to be prepared to change with it no matter what the circumstances are.

While it is understandable that people are not always going to be as at ease in unfamiliar territory as they will be on their “home ground”, it really does not matter to anyone other than you. Keep things in perspective and remember that life happens. Do not hit the brakes and try and stop everything all at once while you change all of your plans.

If you are uncomfortable at first, remember that everyone has to start somewhere and if you have progressed to the point where your whole life has changed that much, you are already well-equipped to deal with just about any new challenge that comes your way.

Keep your thoughts on the future and why you are trying to get where you are going. Remember where you have been not only as a reminder of your past successes but also to keep from becoming too egotistical as you advance. However, the most important concept of all is to keep your eyes on the things that you need to accomplish in the here and now.

If you do not concentrate on the present, the efforts, successes and the failures of your past will all have been in vain. If you are not able to meet the vast majority of your current goals, whether they are large or small in nature and scope, you will never be able to get to where you want to be.
