Viewing Your Slides in Different Modes

PowerPoint also lets you look at your slides in different modes.

1. Normal View

Slide View: This is the mode that you usually use when entering text and other multimedia elements into your slides. This view lets you look at each slide as it actually appears. However, you cannot listen to sounds or view video and animations in this view.

Outline View: This mode too lets you look at each slide. However, instead of showing all multimedia elements, this view allows you look at text outlines only. In this view, you can quickly edit the text in a slide— without getting distracted by other elements.

2. Slide Sorter View: This mode lets you look at all the slides in your presentation along with the text and graphics. This view not only gives you a bird’s eye view of the slides, it also lets you add special effects to them and sort their sequence.

3. Slide Show View: This mode lets you view your slides one by one, in a proper sequence. This is the only view that lets you experience all multimedia elements. You can switch to any of the above views by clicking on the relevant buttons in the lower left corner of the PowerPoint window.

Slide Show View

To see your finished presentation, use the Slide Show View. In this view, each slide is shown one by one in full screen mode. In other words, the slide fills up the monitor screen completely, so you can’t even see the menus and toolbar of PowerPoint. And it should be like that when it comes time to make your presentation, you want your audience to focus strictly on you and your slides, and not be distracted by anything else.

Navigation in Slide Show View

Here are some instructions for navigating your slide show:
