Preparing for the Show

After you have created your slides and added special effects to them, you have to plan how you will deliver the presentation. Then you will need to rehearse. When a person delivers a presentation with PowerPoint, he or she usually does the following.

1. Speak about the topic from memory or freely.

2. Display a slide to help illustrate points, reading the matter on the slide.

3. As a follow up to the slide, speak additional things about the topic.

4. Display another slide, etc.

Like this, the presentation consists of the presenter speaking freely, displaying and reading off slides, and so on.

Irrespective of whether you are a natural speaker or not, it is essential for you to practice giving the presentation at least 2-3 times before actually delivering it to a live audience.
