Note Pages and Handouts

If you want to share some real life examples and personal anecdotes with the audience during the presentation, it is best to make use of the speaker notes feature of PowerPoint.

A speaker notes page contains a small reproduction of the slide and any notes or comments that you want to add when that slide is displayed.

To create Speaker Notes:

In the Menu bar, Select View > Notes Page.

The slide with a Notes Pane saying, “Click to add Notes” appears.

Click anywhere in the Notes' pane to enter your notes for the slide.

You can scroll the scroll bar to add notes to other slides.

To return to your presentation, click View > Normal.

Note: You can see the speaker notes in the Normal View only.

To modify the Notes like resizing and repositioning the slide and notes areas and adding a piece of art, here are some ways:

To change a Single Note Page:

  1. Click View > Notes Page.
  2. Make your changes.
  3. To return to normal view, in the lower left of the MS PPT Window, click Normal View

To make global changes to your notes pages:

Click View > Master > Notes Master.

Make your changes.

Click Notes Master > Close Master View.

Tip: To see how your notes will look when they print, on the Standard toolbar, click Print Preview. Click the arrow in the Print What list, and then click Notes Pages.

Handouts

If you want to provide the audience with the handouts for future reference, you could easily print the slides of your presentation. They do not include the corresponding notes that you may have added to your slides.

To print your presentation:

1. Select File>Print from the menu bar.

A dialog box opens.

2. Under Print Range, select All.

3. Under Print what select Slides (for OHPs), Handouts (for handouts), Notes Pages or Outline View (for highlights from your presentation)

4. Click OK.

Tip: You can also print overhead transparencies from a Power Point presentation.
