Working with Windows

A new image will open in a window. You can zoom in or out, navigate and arrange all the windows on the screen to make it easier to work. The workspace window can be maximised to fill up the screen

A new image opened in Photoshop, will appear in a window. While working you can:

  • Arrange your windows on your screen.
  • Zoom in or out.
  • Navigate around the window
  • Maximize the workspace window. When you maximize the window some gray area might appear around the image in your Photoshop.
  • Bounding boxes can be seen in this area when you are scaling and transforming images.

Zoom tool allows you to zoom in and out of windows.

  • To zoom in click anywhere within an image window.
  • To zoom out, hold down the Alt key and click.
  • To show 100 percent sizes, double click the zoom tool.
  • To select a portion of the image to zoom into, click and drag the Zoom tool in a rectangle.
  • The following options appear in the options bar.
    • Actual Pixels display images at 100 percent.
    • Fit On Screen makes the image as large as possible to fit on the screen.
    • Print Size displays the approximate size of the image if it were printed at the current resolution.

Navigating scrollbars appear when you zoom in on an image.

  • To navigate select the Hand tool from the tool palette. Click and drag the image around the window.
  • To reveal other parts of the image, Click and drag the scroll bars.

Note:

  1. The current tool turns temporarily into the Hand tool, when you hold down the spacebar.
  2. The Navigator palette allows you to zoom in and out and move the zoomed selections in an image.
