Formatting Text
Photoshop allows you to edit many attributes of your text. You can change the font size, style, color, alignment and even the scaling.
To edit many attributes of your text like font size, style, color, alignment and even the scaling. To format text highlight the text using the text tool (hold down the mouse and drag the cursor through the text). Select the font style and the font family. The toolbar has the basic formatting options which are displayed when the text tool is selected.
To specify a Font size, New Font, Font styles, color select from the list or type the size directly. The character palette is best for advanced formatting. To launch the character palette press the toggle button on the toolbar.

Let us see what each option does and there effects.
- Kerning. Adjust space between pair of characters.
- Tracking. Overall space between characters in a word.
- Leading. Space between lines of text.
- Scale Horizontal. Stretch or compress text horizontally.
- Scale Vertical. Same as scale horizontal but works on the vertical.
- Baseline shift. Move word up and down.
Anti-Aliasing
To blend the text pixels into the background making a softer transition. Five levels exist.
- None.
- Sharp offers small amount of font smoothing without getting blurry. Used for Web Use to accommodate the need for extremely sharp text at very small sizes.
- Crisp
- Strong
- Smooth
