Creating Text

You don't need to create a new layer to add text. When you begin to type a new text layer will be created automatically. To create text in Photoshop choose the text tool from the tool palette.

Photoshop is primarily an image editing program, but the requirement of using text with the program exists and many text options are included in Photoshop. Tina will be using this to create text while designing the card.

To Create text choose the Text tool. The mouse cursor will appear as an I- beam.

Click anywhere and start typing. After you finished typing the text, you need to apply the text i.e. tell Photoshop that you have finished typing. To do this click the checkmark at the far right of the toolbar or click any other tool other than text tool.

The Various text options are:

  • Horizontal type tool. Cause text to appear horizontally.
  • Vertical Type tool. Type runs vertically.
  • Horizontal Type Mask Tool. Create a mask selection in the shape of the type. Good for special effects.
  • Vertical Type Mask tool. Creates the text as a selection mask.
