Color Picker
Choosing color in Photoshop is very easy by simply locating the color you want and clicking it on the color picker. Color pickers are located in several places in Photoshop and you can use these again and again.
Having learned to create a new document and work with images, Tina is ready to add colors and shapes in designing the greeting card. Tina is aware that Photoshop has some very powerful drawing tools. Its brushes are packed with features that allow you to touch up photos or even create your own works of art. Let us explore these.
Color Swatches
This is how a color swatch works. The top swatch is the foreground color (black by default). The bottom swatch is the background color (white by default).

To switch the foreground and background colors, press the X key. To reset the color to default, press the D key. The eyedropper tool replaces the currently selected color.
Color Picker
To choose a new color, Double click any of the color swatches and the color picker will open. Let us see some of the important features of the color Picker
- Hue selector - To select a color (hue).
- Currently Selected Tint - Click and drag to choose a tint of the selected color (hue). This shows the actual color.
- New Pick- Shows the color you are choosing from the selected new color.
- Current Color. Shows the current color you are replacing.
- Gamut warning - Tells you that the color cannot be reproduced.
- Snap to Web - Changes the color to the closest color in the web safe palette.
- Color Values - These are the numerical values of the chosen color.
- Hexadecimal Number - A six digit number commonly used for web colors.
- HSB Values - Hue, Saturation and brightness values.
- Lab Values - Separate grayscale and color values that are commonly used for color correction.
- RGB Values- Red green and blue colors. Commonly used for screen and multimedia color.
- CMYK Values - Cyan, Magenta, yellow and black values commonly used for print.
