Working with Documents
A document is also the name
given to an image in Photoshop. These can be created in Photoshop or in other
programs, or images can be brought into Photoshop from a scanner or by opening
existing image documents. Photoshop has a robust set of import filters and can
open images from a variety of sources. Photoshop helps you play around with the
images to create different effects.

- Whenever you open a new document you can play around with it. But the best way to start is to create new document. There are several ways to create a document
- Presets and Opening Existing Documents
- Presets are used to save time whenever you use the same document specifications on a repeated basis.
- Working with Images
- Photoshop has a robust set of import filters and can open images created from a variety of sources. Images created in programs such as Adobe illustrator, CorelDraw retain their sharpness when placed into a Photoshop document.
- File Browser
- File browser is useful for organising and renaming images. It is almost a program in itself with a host of features.
- Changing Thumbnail Sizes
- You can change the size of the thumbnails in the File browser. There are five options that can be selected from the view menu.
- Setting a Custom Thumbnail Size and Automating Options
- Photoshop lets you choose your own custom thumbnail size.
- Image Resolution, Resizing and Interpolation
- Resolution is used very often in the computer world. Every image has a resolution and understanding resolution will ensure the sharpest output for the images. Interpolation is the process of adding or subtracting pixels from the image whenever you enlarge or reduce an image size.
- Resize image Wizard
- This takes care of all the technical resizing issues.
