Photoshop and the Web
Photoshop is one
of the best graphics program. Several features are unique to web work. Some
of the Photoshop features such as Image Ready help you work more efficiently.
In This Chapter:
- Image Ready
- Image ready product was released as a separate product for processing web graphics. However now it comes bundled with Photoshop. Image reday offers features specifically for web work.
- Slicing Images
- It is technique of cutting a large graphic into several smaller images that will be joined together seamlessly like a jigsaw puzzle. You can do the slicing in either Photoshop or Image Ready but Image Ready has more robust features such as allowing you to add a link to your slices etc.
- Optimizing for the Web
- Web pages require file sizes as small as possible to ensure faster downloads. Compression reduces the file size along with the loss in quality. A correctly optimized image will be a balanced image of quality and the file size.
- Image Maps and Rollovers
- Image maps are links to portions of an image. When the user clicks in the defined image map area, another web page opens. Rollovers are used on WebPages, video games etc and the image appears to glow or depressed when the mouse moves over the buttons.
