All About Selections
In Photoshop you can cut out
a particular piece of an image/Photo that you would like to work on. The piece
still remains a part of the original image/ photo. You use selection tools to
select only portions of an image that you want to work on and keep the
unselected portions unaffected.

- Selections are depicted by animated dashed lines that appear around the selected portion of an image. You can carry out the editing or adjustments in the selected areas while keeping the unselected portions unaffected.

- There are several selection tools available within Photoshop each designed for a specific purpose. The simplest and the most commonly tool being the Marquee tools.

- A new selection will replace the existing selection. However you can make more than one selection at a time using various options.

- These selection tools give you more choice and freedom in your selections.

- Photoshop lets you transform the selections beyond the ability of the selections tools.
