Working with Messages

Now that your email account is set-up, you are ready to receive email. This guide shows you how the incoming and outgoing mail is organized in Outlook.

Outlook is like an email organizer that organizes your messages into Inbox, Outbox, Sent items, and deleted Items folders. The messages can be displayed in any one of the folders as per your requirement.

Having created an account Elizabeth will start working with the messages.

The messages are displayed in various folders. These are:

  • Inbox and Outbox folders.
  • Drafts, deleted items and Junk email folders.
  • Sent Items and search folders.

To open a message double click and select it by pressing enter.

Auto Preview: lets you read a bit of your mail before you open it so that you do not waste time with messages that are of no interest.

You can quickly scan your messages for meaningful content and choose whether to read them right away, read them later or simply discard them.

To toggle Auto Preview on or off Click the Auto Preview toolbar button on the advanced toolbar.

View mail with the Preview Pane. The preview pane is better than the Auto Preview since it makes reading mail easier and faster to read. The text is displayed in a separate area at the top or bottom of the window.
