Outlook Housekeeping secrets

Organize large amounts of your information through these housekeeping tools in Outlook.

Outlook can organize large amounts of information. It is important to find the particular information you need and remove the unwanted stuff.

Mailbox Cleanup Command provides several useful tools. The button at the top indicates the size of the mailbox and the disk space being consumed.

The Find button: lets you track down items that are older than a certain number of days, or larger than a certain size helping you to remove items that are old.

The Auto Archive: activates Auto archiving.

Organize command helps locate information. To do this choose Tools > Organize.

The dialog box opens along with the various options which are different for various folders. They include,

  • Using folders to move a selected item to another folder.
  • Using categories to assign categories to the selected items and to create new categories.
  • Using Views to switch to another view for the current folder.
  • Using Colors to choose colors for mail items according to the people they are sent to or received from.
