The Cut Copy and Paste Commands
Here we show you how to use the cut copy and paste Commands.
Editing a document involves correcting spelling mistakes as well as organizing the text by deleting or moving words, sentences, or paragraphs.
CUT, COPY, PASTE
One of the main advantages of a word processor over a conventional typewriter is that it enables you to make changes to a document without having to retype the entire document. You can simply use the functions cut, copy, and paste to rearrange the text.
Let’s look at how we can do the basic editing tasks of cut, copy, and paste:
Cut
To remove the text to a clipboard,
- Select the text that you want to move.
- Click the cut button on the Standard Toolbar.
- Or Choose Edit > Cut from the menu bar.Or press Ctrl + X.
Copy
To copy the text to the clipboard,
- Choose Edit > Copy
- Or select copy button on the Standard toolbar
Or press CTRL+C.
Paste
To paste the text that you have cut or copied,
- Click the Paste button on the Standard toolbar
- Or, move the cursor to the location you want to move the text to and select Edit > Paste from the menu bar.
- Or, press CTRL+V.
Activity
Here’s a note inviting your friends to a fun party at your house.
“Hey! Come on over for a pyjama party!! Bring along your best jokes, tricks, and the oldest pair of pyjamas!
Place: The attic of the house, Time: 8:00 pm”
Juggle the text around, using cut/copy commands:
- Select the sentence ‘Bring along your best jokes, tricks, and the oldest pair of pyjamas!’Move it to the end of the document.
- Copy the words ‘pyjama party!’ Paste them thrice at the beginning of the document to create a header.
