Closing a Document

Here are the steps to close your document after you have created and saved it.

When you are finished editing or viewing a document:

Click on the window's close box.

Or, choose Close from the File menu.

Or, press CTRL+W on the keyboard.

If you have not saved your latest changes, Word will ask if you want to save changes before closing. Choose ‘Yes’ if you want to save your work, and ‘No’ if you don’t want to save the latest changes made, or ‘Cancel’ if you changed your mind and decided to continue working on the document.
