Changing Column Width

You can change column width and row heights to give your text more vertical and horizontal space.

To change the width of a column,

1. Point to the line between the column letters.

2. The mouse pointer changes to a double arrow.

3. Click and drag the columns border to the desired width.

You can also change the row height in the same way.

Fact: The default column width in an Excel Spreadsheet is 8.43 points. The default row height is 12.75 points.

TIP: To quickly format the width of a column to accommodate the longest entry in the column,

1. Place the cursor on the right column-heading border.

2. The pointer will change to a thick line with arrows on either side of it.

3. Double click the mouse button and the column width will automatically adjust.
