Terms and Conditions for This Auction or Listing
Other pertinent information on the listing
The next section on the page will include any terms for this listing such as additional shipping information, warranty and contact information
The image below is the payments and checkout information. Note what it says at the top "Your bid is a legally binding contract"-this is true for ALL auctions and listings. DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU INTEND TO FOLLOW THROUGH! You will be held to the bid unless the seller allows you to retract your bid. There are several reasons and situations in which a bid can be retracted which we will go over later, but only bid unless you intend to purchase the item for the terms listed. You will see in this example they inform you of how to figure out the taxes and that payment is required within 3 days of the end of the auction. So if you will be out of town at the end of the auction, you would need to contact the seller and ask if you can pay at a later date or make some arrangement with the seller. It also states that they only ship to verified addresses and that foreign payments and shipping will not be accepted.
- The next section goes over feedback and explains that they will give positive feedback when all terms are met and they leave positive feedback when the terms of the sale are complied with and you leave feedback. They also state that they will leave negative feedback when a winning bidder does not pay or if negative feedback is left for them. Please read the section on Feedback included in a later chapter. Do not leave negative feedback lightly! This affects a person's selling and buying ability, so you always want to attempt resolution with the seller before leaving negative feedback. Use negative feedback only as a LAST resort.
- The next section includes information on shipping and handling. It includes the flat fee, where they can and cannot ship, what shipping methods are available and what you can expect for shipping times. Some sellers do offer pickup of orders if you are in the local vicinity, however this seller states they do NOT allow pickup of winning auction items.
- The next section addresses questions. The information they list here should apply to all your dealings on eBay. Do not bid first and ask questions later unless you are prepared to pay for and follow through with the auction regardless of the answer to your question. For example if you live outside of their stated shipping area, do not bid unless you receive a response from the seller that they are willing to ship to you. However if you want to know if the camera is the color blue but you don't care what color it is, you are just curious and will buy the camera either way, then it's ok to bid first.
- The next section with information is basically a reiteration of the shipping, taxes and payment instructions. The reason this is repeated is that this section below is one that was required by ebay, however the previous sections were sections added in by the seller to ensure the terms are clear. The two sections should match regarding the information given. If they do not, contact the seller for clarification before you bid.
- The next section covers what payment methods are accepted. In this example the seller accepts both payment through paypal as well as directly with a credit card. You will see that the seller prefers paypal and you should use this method if feasible. You will notice that if paying through paypal, the item is covered. To see the paypal protection details, visit the Pay pal User Agreement. If using your credit card your protection will be whatever your card company offers. Notice that these are the only two options the seller accepts. This means that if you want to pay by check, you will have to do so via paypal, and no money orders or other methods are accepted as payment.
