Setting up a Paypal Account

If you already have a paypal account click on "Link My PayPal Account".

If you don't currently have a PayPal account or you would like to make a separate one, click on "Sign Up". You will be taken to a screen that looks like the one below:

The account you choose will be dependent upon what you want to do, but the differences are shown in the chart below:

  • Choose one of the types of memberships. For this example, we will be choosing personal.
  • Select your country and click on "Continue".

You will then need to fill in the required information on the next screen:

  • Click on "I Agree. Create My Account"
  • You will then be taken to a screen that informs you that you will need to check your email to continue.
  • Check your email for the Paypal activation email
  • Click on "Click here to activate your account"
  • In the screen that comes up, type in your password and click on "confirm"
  • Once you have successfully entered your password, the next screen informs you that your email has been confirmed.
  • The next screen will give you a choice to skip the next step or to add your bank information in order to be "verified". You can choose not to perform this step, however some people will not allow bids or purchase from someone who has not been "verified". There are some benefits to becoming verified:
    • Higher spending power - There's no limit to the amount of money you can send once you are Verified.
    • Increased security - Verfication not only offers you increased security, it lets others know you are a confirmed member of the PayPal community.
    • More buyer and seller confidence - Buyers and sellers value your Verifed status.
  • Click on continue, which will take you to a screen with more information on becoming verified.
  • After reading any information you have questions about on this screen, click on "Get Verified"
  • The next screen gives you two options, enter your bank information or apply and use their paypal credit card. If you do not want to apply for their credit card, but would like to use a credit card, you will be able to do so at a later time. They require your bank information now as they will deposit several small amounts into your bank account to verify that the account information you gave them is correct, and that it's not fraudulent information. Once you have verified that information, you will then be able to add a credit card account and remove the bank account information. However, until then you will need to proceed with entering your bank account information.
  • Click on "Add Bank"
  • Fill in your bank account information and click on "Continue"
  • Once you have filled in the information and submitted it, Paypal will depost several small increments of money into your bank account (the amounts vary but for an example, it may be 2¢ and 6¢). Once you receive these deposits:
  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click the Profile subtab.
  3. Click the Bank Account link in the Account Information column.
  4. Click Confirm.
  5. If your bank qualifies, you can choose the instant bank confirmation process. If it does not qualify, you can complete the random deposit process.
  6. Click the instantly confirm your bank account link.
  7. Enter your login for your bank account.
  8. Click Continue.
