Depending on how you will use the computer you can choose whether or not to enter a password. If you have children you may want to create several accounts with one specifically for them with parental control systems.

password

The name of the Computer is the name you will see on networks. If you have a home with several computers in a network you may want to enter a name specific to the function of the computer (i.e. dadcomputer).

Updates will keep your computer safer by updating components with recently discovered vulnerabilities. Use the recommended settings to have automatic updates.

vista 1st boot

The screen above is the one that will welcome you on your first boot. Chances are, all the hardware you have will be detected thanks to the large amount of drivers included in Vista. However, you will want to upgrade those drivers if possible, especially the video card as it evolves very quickly. To install drivers for your hardware, please refer to the manufacturer manual.

Windows vista will let you use your new system for 30 days without registration, but you will need to after 30 days. Our advice is to do it right away. It will allow you to download all the updated and security fixes. This is an important part of the security of your computer. Follow the Microsoft Guide to register online.

You now have a functional system you can enjoy.
